Rotate and Flip Images

Turn photos the right way up, mirror them, or straighten a crooked horizon. The same change can go on many images at once.

How to rotate an image

  1. Drop one or more photos into the box, or tap it to choose them.
  2. Click Rotate left or Rotate right to turn them a quarter turn, or use the flip buttons to mirror them. The preview shows the result.
  3. To fix a tilted horizon, move the Straighten slider until the line is level.
  4. Download each image, or download them all as a zip.

Flipping and straightening

Flip horizontal mirrors the picture left to right, which fixes selfies where text reads backwards. Flip vertical turns it upside down as if seen in a pool of water.

Straightening turns the photo by a small angle, which leaves empty triangles in the corners. With Crop off the empty corners ticked, the image is trimmed to the largest rectangle that has no gaps. Untick it to keep the whole photo, with clear corners for PNG and WebP and white corners for JPG.

Click a picture in the list to preview that one instead of the first.

Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The images are rotated in your browser, so they never leave your device.

Why does my photo look sideways on one device and fine on another?

Phones save a rotation note in the photo's data instead of turning the pixels, and some apps ignore that note. This tool turns the pixels themselves, so the saved image looks the same everywhere.

Does rotating reduce quality?

PNG images keep every pixel. JPG and WebP photos are saved again at high quality, which looks the same to the eye, and the file size may change a little.
