How to convert JSON to CSV

  1. Open a .json file, drop it onto the box, or paste the JSON.
  2. The CSV and a preview table appear straight away. Each object becomes a row and each key becomes a column.
  3. Download the .csv file and open it in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.

How nested data is handled

CSV is flat, so nested objects need to be spread out. With nested fields in their own columns, {"address": {"city": "Oslo"}} becomes a column called address.city. Lists inside an object, such as tags, are kept as JSON text in a single cell.

If your JSON is one object that holds a list, such as {"results": [...]}, the converter finds the list and uses it. Objects with different keys are fine: every key gets a column and missing values are left blank.

Frequently asked questions

Is my JSON uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, so API responses and exports stay on your device.

Why do accents look wrong when I open the CSV in Excel?

They shouldn't with this tool. The download includes a byte-order mark, which tells Excel to read the file as UTF-8 so accents and other special characters display correctly.

My Excel expects semicolons. What should I pick?

In many European countries Excel uses semicolons because the comma is the decimal separator. Choose Semicolon as the delimiter and the file will open in the right columns.
