How to pick a color from an image

  1. Drop an image into the box, tap it to choose one, or paste a screenshot.
  2. Move over the picture. The magnifier shows the pixels under your pointer, with the one you will pick in the middle.
  3. Click or tap to pick it. The color appears as HEX, RGB and HSL codes with copy buttons, and joins your list of picked colors.

Main colors

Below your picks, the tool lists the colors that cover most of the picture, from most to least common. Similar shades are grouped together, so you get a short palette that matches the image. Click any color in either list to show its codes.

This is handy for matching a website or slide design to a photo or logo, or for finding the exact color of a brand from a screenshot.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image is opened in your browser and the colors are read on your device, so it is never sent anywhere.

Why is the color slightly different from what I expected?

Photos and JPG files blend neighboring pixels, so the edge of a shape often holds a mix of two colors. Use the magnifier to pick from the middle of a flat area.

Can I pick a color from my screen instead?

Take a screenshot (Print Screen on Windows, Shift+⌘+4 on a Mac), then paste it here with Ctrl+V or ⌘V.
